"To mitigate the consequences of fire, accident, sudden illness, or disaster in the community - To promote life and safety and to reduce human suffering through public education and fire prevention programs - To recognize that every individual is valuable and maximize each member’s potential - To reach into the future, never forgetting the lessons of the past."
The types of services provided by Gulf Shores Fire Rescue have increased over the past few years. Fire response is provided by five pumpers, two ladders trucks and a heavy rescue unit. The department operates three 24 hour shifts with 15 responders per shift. Of these 15 responders 6 are paramedics and we have at least 12 personnel on duty at all times. The off-duty and volunteer personnel (33/24) can be paged to respond for a major event.

The department prides itself on the protection of life and property In fire situations an effort is made to insure that no additional damage occurs after the department's arrival. Clean-up and
weather protection is preformed to the greatest extent practical.

Emergency medical response is made by the nearest ALS pumper for all calls and medical transportation is provided by MEDSTAR, a private ambulance company. All shift personnel are Firefighter/EMT or Firefighter/Paramedic. Blood pressure monitoring is provided on a walk-in basis at fire stations 1 and 2.

The Technical Rescue Team provides Hazardous Material Response, High Angle Rescue, Confined Space Rescue as well as Water Rescue. In addition the fire rescue department responds to all other types of emergencies and provides any necessary action to protect against injury and property loss.

Fire and Safety inspections are conducted for all business and to homes on request, at no charge. Pre-incident plans are prepared for all target hazards to ensure proper operation of all built in protection systems and to familiarize the department with the property and management. The department is dispatched for emergencies by Baldwin County 911 (E-911).
